It depends how well the sound is implemented, and the volume they are being played at. Poorly implemented sounds are very irritating, I have a few, and I have some very well implemented sounds. The BR class 24 from Sutton Locomotive works is one of the best soundings loco's I have heard, there are others, but the problem is that you can have both good and bad from the same manufacturer. I have some excellent sounding loco's from both Roco and Piko, but I also have some poor ones. Both manufacturers seem to be improving their sounds however, which is a good thing. Many of the locos need the volume of their sound adjusted, but this is probably a personal thing, and easily done.
