Important information about SteamPipe
On Monday afternoon (UK) (morning in the US) we will be changing the way we deliver Train Simulator and add-ons to a new system called ‘SteamPipe’.
The SteamPipe system is a new way of delivering content via Steam. This new system has a more efficient patching algorithm which will mean smaller and faster downloads for updates and fixes.
This update to SteamPipe will be automatically requested the next time you open or log in to Steam or Train Simulator after the Monday switch. You will be alerted to the update with the message “Steam needs to convert the game content for “Train Simulator 2013” to a new, more efficient format. This will require an Internet connection and a few minutes’ time.”
The changes should take between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
The on-screen instructions will take you through the download and automatic configuration process. After the conversion is complete, Steam may need to download any missing content or files.
As with all our updates, we recommend that content creators backup their work prior to the update.
The change to SteamPipe will not affect the way the game performs. However, if you experience any problems after the update has downloaded and completed, please contact support@railsimulator.com.
