Maybe it might have been a good idea, if the concerned developers would have come up with intelligent workarounds, a compromise that would keep up a semi-realistic function, but not ruining the whole thing with a silly nonsense tweak. But apart from that, and with all understanding for the dilemma the devs face - do you all really think it‘s okay, „big brother“ can change or rather degrade paid content on your computer to their liking, without even asking, in the still of the night?
How things develop in the future, is one thing. I then have the individual choice, will I buy that stuff as is or not. But in this case, I still think a fat red line has been crossed.
And users must decide, do I want a licensed but stupid model, where every „rivet“ is in its place, or do I prefer a slightly altered but fully functional simulation with a tiny bit of intelligent fantasy.
It is a question of super-mario-carts or in the true sense of the word „simulation“.
Sad enough, as in Matt‘s post, the developers will from now on ignore the admirable, unique swiss railway…
