The 37 is based on the steam Wherry class 37, but extra bin files are included to make it compatible with the original AP version of the Wherry lines. http://www.vulcanproductions.c…er72-diesel-download.html

    Class 68 Livery pack https://drive.google.com/file/…Z0tLNmc/view?usp=drivesdk
Note there was an error in the class 68 pack readme as noted below on UKTS AND facebook.
It's an error in the readme file, you need to open and extract the contents of the .rwp file into your default Railworks folder and it will place it's contents where it needs - then just execute the batch file and everything will be done.

The final thing that may need doing would be to read/write enable the folders and files so that they are visible for scenario swaps and other elements in RW Tools.

  • Moorgate route updated
    From UKTS

Today I release an update for the Moorgate extension to the ECML South route.
It features new tunnels, clutter additions, fixed speed limits and tunnel assets cut down to a better size.

It does mean though that the requirements list has grown. You'll now need:

    - DTG ECML London - Peterborough Addon (Steam)
    - DTG London - Brighton Addon (Steam)
    - DTG Liverpool - Manchester Addon (Steam)
    - Thomson WCML Trent Valley Addon (Steam)
    - DTG European Community Asset Pack (Steam)

    Some screenshots.

    A video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl3DPDA4LFE

It can be downloaded now from http://backdatedtrainsim.weebly.com/route-downloads.html

Please note, this update is currently not compatible with certain scenarios from the ECML Rush Hour Scenario Pack. However, James has been made aware and will be working on a quick fix.

I would like to thank my friend George (GCHartley) who did 99% of the work to make this update possible.

    Enjoy!

There are also some other routes available on the download page

  • The Oakwood Shed are pleased to advise that the next version of the popular "South West Wales Freeware Route for TS 2017" is now avaialble for download from the website.
Anybody who downloaded this before today Sunday 12th Feb, please re-download as there were missing assets which have now been corrected
    Version 5.5/10 February 2017 ~ Updates since v5.0 (01 December 2016):
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you downloaded the route before today 12th Feb, please re-download as there were missing assets which have now been corrected.

The scenery decals placed between Milford Haven and Whitland have been removed and replaced by contemporary scenery.

Track and signaling has been laid to Bridgend from Pyle. Basic landscape scenery added with an awful lot of freestyle imagination!

Track and signaling has been laid to Fishguard. Although some scenery has been added this section is very much 'work in progress' and will be updated in the coming months.

Some technical issues (mainly signaling) have been resolved and in some cases improved along the route.

Where required additional scenery assets have been included and are supplied. Important these are installed by the user before the route is started.

Download and Installation details are supplied here - please read before proceeding; thank you.

  • I'm planning to get some UK routes. I would like to know which routes are a must have to start with. At the moment I only own the ECML London-Peterborough. I guess this could be worth to get, what do you think?: TS UK package

  • Chatham Main Line is great, easily one of my favourites! The South Wales Coastal is also quite good but I´ve noticed an more than usual probablity to crash in the Cardiff area 8no problems with RAM there though). I can´t say much about the other route as I don´t have it.

But my pretty much all time fav is the North London Line! If you like stop-and-go interurban traffic, that´s the way to go.

  • Should be modern times with either electric or diesel powered trains. I personally prefer passenger service. It doesn't matter if it's urban or countryside, I like all types ;)

  • Hi Morphi,

my favourite UK-routes that I would recommend to:

    1) Wherry Lines: It's a rural route with a briliant graphic - in my opinion one of the best routes for Train Simulator and a "must-have"-addon. But you should like slow passenger services in a great landscape. You find the add-on on steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/376970/?l=german) or at the builders website (http://www.armstrongpowerhouse…ct/product&product_id=155)

    2) DTG North London Line: It's one of my favourite routes - a "S-Bahn"-London-Add-on with suburban trains and freight trains. You find it on steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/325974/?l=german)

    3) WCML Trent Valley: Modern route with freight, local and Intercity-trains. (http://store.steampowered.com/app/325954/?l=german)

  • @Morphi As mentioned above there is the North London route, which is slow but quite varied, there is also a backdated route that is done very well, but possibly an era that doesn't interest you. Wherry lines is great and the class 37 sounds are very good, in some ways it is a little limited, but brilliant. Trent Valley is nicely done, but for me it is quite limited in that you can only really go from a to b. There is also GEML which has Inter-City, commuter and freight. This is best bought as a twin pack with the AP class 90 http://store.steampowered.com/sub/33561/. South London Network is also another commuter route with a lot of different routes http://store.steampowered.com/app/222638/. London-Brighton, although older is still a good route as well, primarily passenger, but with some freight http://store.steampowered.com/app/208280/. Chatham mainline as mentioned is another southern passenger route http://store.steampowered.com/app/376946/. There is also Edinburgh - Glasgow from Thomson, like many of their routes it is a little limited but still ok. Mainly Diesel Passenger. Best bought as a twin pack with the 08 as this adds a part of the route, although I see it no longer tells you this in the description. http://store.steampowered.com/app/222578/. The Riviera line is also a nice little passenger line http://store.steampowered.com/app/222632/ slow and fast trains. London to Faversham is a high speed commuter line, older but still good and AP are working on an enhancement pack for the Javelin, however it is also limited in some ways. There is a bundle that will give you the expansion pack and some additional EMU's that can be used on other routes http://store.steampowered.com/app/222557/?snr=1_5_9__300 . West coast mainline and WCML over shap are also good, but come with older trains, you would need to buy modern trains to run over these routes, they are however excellent although the first is a little dated now, but it will give you the HST buffers pack if you need it. http://store.steampowered.com/app/24083/ & http://store.steampowered.com/app/222613/ Midland mainline is also ok, if a little short http://store.steampowered.com/app/277760/ . Portsmouth direct is ok if you get the patch from DP Simulations http://store.steampowered.com/app/65218/ . I think that is enough for now, of course you can also drive on older routes with moder. stock as well. Even if you only use workshop scenarios you will need to buty other add-ons, and if you go outside the workshop then you will probably need need AP/Waggonz add-ons 313/32/456. If you value your ears then you will also need AP sound/enhancement packs. For re-skins/ some free scenario packs you should become familiar with DP simulations http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/ and you should think about a subscription to UKTS even if only for a month at a time. It is well worth the money. the best strategy is to wait for steam sales and AP sales and buy strategically, maybe sound packs for add-ons you don't have but will buy because they are on sale, or a train you don't need yet but will later, I'm sure you know how it goes. JT also do some nice add-ons, but I find that their routes are not always so wonderful. Western main lines is ok, but you need a good computer and a few other add-ons https://www.justtrains.net/product/western-mainlines . Their Edinburgh-Newcastle route is ok, but not what is should be. Hopefully this is enough to get you going.

Edit: I forgot to say, I have no problems with crashes on the Bristol Swansea route. The route is ok, but not as interesting as it would have been in 1970-1980.

  • @'Morphi'

  • If you like steam era British routes and are on Facebook, if you join this group "TS: Recreating Britain's lost routes." you will have access to some interesting TS routes. Also this group "Rosgar Scenario Central" will give you access to a lot of scenarios. Some will also be posted on UKTS, but there is no subscription required for Facebook.

  • @holzroller
Thanks for your recommendations. This is indeed quite an amount of routes. I guess I should wait for sales otherwise it gets too expensive.

    Hello Morphi,

Yes, it is best if you wait for the next Steam Sale, which will probably be at Easter. Holzroller has given you a great list of routes for you to choose from. I can recommend another route on Steam from Scotland called West Highland Line extension, which is set in the Scottish Mountains with some Deer and lots of lakes and bridges, it is very rural, but, an excellently constructed small layout only for modern Diesel and Steam trains.
My favourite routes from Steam are those set in and around London. South London Network, London to Bedford, London Faversham High Speed, North London Lines and London to Ipswich, which are all fairly modern with electric multiple units, local and national passenger trains and lots of freight train running, a lot of variety to keep you entertained.
