They are the same route yes. I knowthat there have been updates to the JT version of the route, I do not know if theyhave been Applied to the steam version. Personally I would prefer to buy from JT rather than steam any day. Automatic updates on steam are only useful if They Actually happen.

Most English would not care about the distinction, but the Scots, Irish and Welsh have never lost their national identity, despite being effectively conquered centuries ago. The United Kingdom, or Great Britain is made up of four distinct countries Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. They are currently tied together by the act of union, you could think of it as an early form of the EU in that it unified currency, abolished border checks, and centralised government, but the four countries still exist in their own right, and always have, apart from Northern Ireland which is a more modern construct. So I would say that there is less difference in reality than you think. Scotland answers to Westminster to a degree, Austria and Germany answer to Brussels to a degree.
I have to say that I would question just how successful some of those state structures are, that really depends upon your viewpoint, Their biggest success is giving jobs to more politicians, to generate more hot air and waste still more of other peoples money. ;) But I think we are now going well off topic, unless of course somebody wants to discuss it in a more appropriate thread. My original post was intended to be partly tongue in cheek as we say. :)

I have both versions, the JT version is the better model has more functionality (it is part of their advanced range), comes with the nuclear flask wagons and the water jet wagons which clean leaves from the rails. These are functional and can be controlled from the engine. I have the AP sound pack which works with both versions. As always support from JT is far superior to DTG. You also get several different liveries with the JT version.

There are also some nice freeware routes, links to a few can be found in this thread here The British thread (english language / Englisch Kenntnisse erforderlich)
Strictly speaking West Highland and WLOS routes don't belong in this thread as they are Scottish and not English, likewise Maerdy is Welsh, not English, it's a bit like saying an Austrian route is German. A lot of people over here would get most upset about it, something I can understand from what I have seen over the years. Better to say British or UK routes

From a post on UKTS, this may be interesting for the English speakers here.

Hi all, Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know did i've started a new blog that will be covering various technical topics more about content creation in TS2015 - starting with using LUA scripts in Scenarios to get things like Cinematic Cameras, HTML pop -ups, audio, video, weather and so forth working. 5 articles are up so far and the intention is to add to it every day. I also did a full segment on my Twitch show on this subject did goes through a lot of it Relatively Quickly (the blog is taking a much more in depth look at each topic) - but there's plenty in the video to get the grasp of how it all hangs together and what is possible. The blog is at: http: // trainsimlive. blogspot.co.uk The YouTube recording of the segment is here:

Lastly, if you want to check in on my Twitch show - Train Sim Live - Which Usually runs 21 : 30GMT every weekday night you can find it at: http://twitch.tv/mattpeddlesden - Usually it's just running a variety of scenarios and stock but I'm aiming to get tutorials covered too, there are already a number of them ( All recordings are stored on YouTube so it's all there if you wanna check it out later). Feedback welcome! Apologies for the intrusion! Matt.

@ nofly. It sounds like you haven't removed the master key before changing cabs and then put the master key in after changing. The master key locks the reverser in real life. I have changed cabs in real life so many times in the similar class 37 and other locos I used to do it without thinking, but I haven't had much time to to explore this new model so far. Hopefully at the weekend. Up until the late 70's/early 80's it was quite normal to reverse on to a train without changing ends, but after that you were supposed to change ends or have a man on the ground, shunter, secondman or guard, giving handsignals if you couldn't change. Most of the drivers had driven steam engines and were used to judging distances with the length of the engine or tender between them and the train. Once younger drivers came onto the job with no such experience the rules changed.

In the real lok, one trick to deal with overheating was to put the reverser in neutral and open the throttle to race the engine with no load, this would of course turn the fan faster but generate less heat, you would do this on a flat or downhill section of track. Not sure if it works with the model. One thing you had to do, once you closed the throttle again wait a few seconds before moving the reverser back to forwards. Otherwise you would get a tremendous surge of power.
