Tobi_das_Tf Hallo Tobi. Great work! Eine kleine Frage. Do you change the route markers, or are they the same as in the original version?
TheRailfan2020 The directx12 version is an experimental version. As far as i understand, it is not being developed but is abandoned.
I can say with certainty that i didn’t have any fps gains. But i didn’t lose any either Gott sai dank.
tom87 I too did notice the UI being more smooth.
I do feel dissapointed that “unleashing the power of TS” is off the table.
Today is TS2024 laumch day. BACKUP before updating if you have mods.
These are the core game patch notes:
Patch Notes for Train Simulator Classic Update – May 21st, 2024
# When enabled this will provide performance hints via logmate. Currently, this only has one warning - when a script tries to set a value to the same value it already has (e.g. via SetControlValue). In some situations, this Lua call can have a huge performance hit, because the text-based lookup can be very slow. In general, scripts should only set values that they know have changed. Note that GetControlValue has a similar performance penalty, so using that followed by a SetControlValue will have worse performance overall. Instead, scripts should track these values themselves using internal Lua variables wherever possible to minimise these calls. An example might be a loco script that sets headlights and rear lights every frame, rather than when the loco changes direction. With some scripts this filter can cause a huge amount of extra output to Logmate, so a new filter was added rather than using an existing one. Developers should be aware of this when using the "All" filter.
The update will download automatically for owners when it becomes available. Players should allow at least 24 hours after restarting Steam for the update to appear and before contacting Customer Support.
There is no need to get the beta. In a few days the core TS code will be updated.
Isn’t it simtrain who made SBB Route 1?
They have actively blocked upgrades of that route.
If you have seen no news in a whole year, then it’s because there is no news.
If i remember correctly the project is paused/abandoned.
oebb_fan Mods to non Steam stuff should be safe BUT back everything up anyway!!! I mean, after all playing TSC is quite an investment so don’t you think you’d better secure it, just in case your harddrive fails, or your computer breaks etc….?
oebb_fan Anything that you have bought on steam, and have modded in anyway, is potentially at risk. There is nothing DTG can do about this, it is a Steam process.
And, may i add, while annoying to us modders, it is there for very good reasons. Imagine having to do support for a product that people mess with all the time. At least, with the steam file integrety process, they can know that their stuff should cause no troubles.
Wie Octopus geschreibt. Im Beta gehoben.
Asked this the on DTG forums.
ZitatDTG Jamie So let me see if i understand you correctly. There will be no future dlc (or TSC features) exclusive to the subscription model?
This was the answer from DTG:
Subscription exclusives are not planned, we don't want to restrict content from players who would rather purchase over subscribe.
———————-
As i said, the two models will co exist.
BlackHawk (Almost) every software company in the business i am in (music) have both models side by side, because the backlash from the userbase when they tried to introduce subscription only models was HUGE. And indeed you only have to look at the official TS forum and SoMe to see the same. So i think DTG is learning their lesson right now.
Subscriptions is a way to catch in new users, but I think DTG very well know the demography of their userbase, and know we will not stand for it.
Leute. Relax! The abo version is an ALTERNATIVE to purchase. Both options will co-exist, the abo version is meant to bring new players. This is straight from DTG.
And let’s not forget that they ARE working on performance improvements, and that the goal actually is to make a version that takes full use of our hardwares capabilities.
I love that we get free core updates. I would be more than willing to pay for those.
What i will never ever do is pay for exclusive subscription content. I want to own stuff. And i will not be pressganged into paying a monthly rental fee. However i am fine with purchase and rental options side by side as an option. Horses for courses.
Schienenbus That’d be fine with me. It’s just a Führerstandwechsel.
I know this doesn’t apply to anyone else but me, but my brain works like this; It would be SO nice to have this connected to Beyreuth. It might be in no use in real life, but in my head you could actually do the drive all the way from Maribor to Bad Steben. What a virtual ride that would be.
I know…. it’s just my “dove-brain” that wish for those virtual journeys.
Prelli Not so different from making music with others. Indeed almost any creative project involving more than one person will face these problems. As soon as you collaborate, you will have to accept that some of your time will be sucked up by project management.
Hinweis für Quick Drive Ersteller:
Never give the dispatcher a choice on routings. That goes for AI trains as well as player trains. If you need to put in extra destinations in the scenario editor, do it! Otherwise you will eventually get either “ai train has left the path” or “ai collision” errors.
