tom87 Well this is not the fault of the developers. So no sense in haggling them. This is a stupid move from SBB. One we HOPE will not catch on with anyone else!

Well imagine this:
TSW users just got their Luzern route DOWNGRADED from what they paid for. And yes that could absolutely happen with any content bought on steam. And everytime steam got allowed on the net, your content would be updated to a “simple control” version, and you would have to reainstal/mod the trains you want to drive after each update. Possible, but a nightmare.
And i guess laws could be passed that forbade simulations to implement train protection systems.
-
Just imange DB or ÖBB doing this and the consequenses for the simulators? Just wow....
It would be the death of train simming.
-
Theoretically, could you do a fictive repaint and sell that fully featured?
Edit: you answered that already. A fictive 185 repaint or something like that, would that be a possibility?
Anyway, this ofcourse is the death of Swiss train simming. Such a shame.

Quote;
"As the Stadler GTW mid-life update is now very close to release, I have to pass on some sad news. You may have read about this elsewhere in the TSC community, but recently SBB modified all the license agreements with developers of models for all train simulator games. I don’t know if anyone really knows what happened to cause them to do this, but the short version is this: for me to remain legal with my SBB license, I am now forbidden from including anything other than than the most basic driving functions, in and model that has anything to do with Swiss rail operators.
This means no SIFA and no PZB, among other things. This does not just affect me. It has already affected Paul Mersel's TrainWorx, and is also going to affect all Swiss game content from other developers (for example Rivet Games) if it hasn't already.
What this means for the GTW update is that the Thurbo GTW will have SIFA and PZB disabled in this release, and all future releases, until SBB reconsiders their position.
This isn't anything to do with the use of the SBB brand, and SBB haven't made any public statement as to why they have made this decision.
But the wording of the new license agreement has less to do with specific systems in the train, and more to do with a general requirement that someone cannot learn how to fully start and operate any train on the Swiss network, simply from a simulation game.
Specifically they require that no information screens are accurate or functional (in terms of menus, buttons etc), and that only accelerating and braking be allowed by the players.
Further than that, I'm not going to speculate the reasons why they have made these decisions.
Realistically I only had two options. I could either comply with the updated SBB requirements, or I could remove the Thurbo GTW from the pack completely. While I understand this is disappointing to Swiss rail enthusiasts, there is nothing I can do about this, and no amount of comments, emails or support tickets will result in me re-activating these functions in the model. I have to comply with the terms of my SBB licensing agreement, or I could face legal action.
All other versions of the GTW in the pack remain unaffected."
Realistically; has anyone ever stolen a train and driven it with the knowledge of a simulation? I highly doubt it!!! After all there is so much more to driving a train than ZUB and Sifa. And there is a huge difference from using a keyboard to being at a Fahrpult. Also what’s stopping developers to make a DB BR 189 (or other trains that run on the Swiss network) with ZUB? That would be outside SBBs licencing anyway, so players could still drive with it. Just not on a SBB branded train.
Also, in a time where train drivers are desperately in shortage, simulations is one of the things that actually recruits them. In light of that, the new policy from SBB seems counterproductive.

@Julia and anyone else who do not understand how e-trade transactions are actually handled:
The shop (Railforge in this case) never sees your creditcard details. They are encrypted when you input them. It’s handled through a payment gateway that Railforge simply pays to use. And at the root it is NO different than Paypal. And it is also no different than when you use your card at a Tankstelle in Kassel or Copenhagen. Indeed they could even be using the same gateway. Paypal is simply an extra layer, which is why some e-shops will rather just use one solution. Less solutions to pay for.
And yes, in a moment someone will say, “but it’s Railforges home page”. But really the payment part of the homepage is a “skin” that personalises the frontend of the payment gateway to be uniform with the rest of the homepage. Indeed som e-shops don’t even bother to do this. When you go the payment you are simply directed out of the homepage.

Are you sure TSC is set to use your new GraKa?
-
Don’t forget that on some routes it’s not enough to copy in the Time Of Day files. Sometimes they must be renamed as well.

Ist ja auch “nur” ein Spiel. No need for every single track and switch to be exactly correct in regards to a specific date. At least not for me. I know i am going to enjoy v4. I did try my hand on v3 but somehow there was always signal problems for me on that one, and i haven’t played the original route since about 2017. So it will almost be like getting a new one for me.
-
(Perhaps this belongs in the Meckerecke….) OT but what is it with Germans and credit/debit cards? I don’t get the resistance. I hate having to carry around cash. I’ve never ever had one single problem with my visa or mastercard. And i’ve had them since i was 18 years, so that is over 30 years.
In fact the only problem i ever have is when i am in some restaurants in Germany/Austria and the waiter says nur Bargeld.
My fave anecdote is some years ago when i was making a payment in a shop in Melsungen. I used contactless apple pay. The woman at the cash register literally jumped out of her seat when i “magically” paid by holding my phone close to the card terminal. She actually asked “wie hat die das getan”, looking at me like i hacked the system. Both she, and the two people in the line behind me had never even seen that done before.

We’ve just come home from a week in Croatia and three days in Prag. We didn’t pay cash one single time. Seriously, accusing business owners in Romania of credit card fraud seems pretty harsh…
I think you are MUCH more likely to get pickpocketet in Paris, than to be frauded by Railforge.

Doch. Ein bischen funktioniert die Triggern im QD. Man kann zum Beispiel randomisierte Regen/Donner im QD einbauen.
-
On the subject of QD. Eventhough not released yet, HSv4 is on my list for Real Drives.

Someone made an optical upgrade to Dü-Kö. Even that made a big difference. Yes the tracks and signals are primitive and could be much better. But what did surprise me was that the signalscripts actually worked way better than expected. I threw a lot of AI traffic on them and they still worked.

Only 5 dependencies? I applaud you for the userfriendliness. This will be a good starting point for “first time” modders. They can learn something while not be discouraged by the amount of new things to install.
-
@Julia Have you driven Klagenfurt Knittelfeld? The quality is nowhere near as good as Ingolstadt Treuchtlingen.
-
Drove the QD from Ingolstadt to Treuchtlingen and i can already say that, for me, this is the best German route from RSSLO to date.
This might be because, in terms of landscape and route type, they hit the mark for me. Two track and hills.
I only wish it was 20km or so longer.

Yes in time i will build a Real Drive for it. I am a musician, as you probably know, so being creative in TSC has to be done in times when there is not so much to do. Amd i have to think far ahead. As an example, in 10 months i will be doing shows with a Peter Gabriel tribute band. But i will be playing keyboards, and normally i am a guitarist in live settings. So i will actually need to begin practising a bit already now, and then gradually become good enough over the next half year. That doesn’t mean i wont be building Real Drives, but it means i have to plan my time correct.
Sorry, that went a bit off topic.
SeKu Genau. A couple of days ago i drove past Graz to Linz (and further on to Prag) and despite RSSLO routes not being exactly correct in everything, i recognized so many places where the Autobahn ran parallel to the Bahnnetz that we have in TSC. I’ve never been that route before and i had dejavu so much of the time it was almost unreal.
-
Für mich ist immer noch Hausach-Konstanz der Maßstab.
If that is what makes you happy, then you also know that RSSLO is never going to get there, and that you will always be dissapointed. And that is where the chain jumps off for me. Why even consider a product that you know you will never like?
