Darth Vader WIP
from FacebookA first look at our Class 460 'Gatwick Express' Cab. Still a lot left on the 'to do' list, mainly scripting and audio. On that note, would functional Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) be a feature you'd like to see?
-
Looks really good but the Class 460 is so incredibly ugly (and phased out). If it´s not too expensive and has good scripting I might give it a go.
-
Yes! Looks bloody briliant!!

I am also looking forward to a properly implemented and detailed class 43, I drove these in real life and the DTG version is a pale shadow of reality. I am also very much looking forward to the class 47, another lok I drove in real life. If these meet the standards of the RailRight class 40 I will be more than happy. The Darth Vader interests me not so much.

From Facebook;
Another (long) day of development draws to a close. Some exciting features in the cab are starting to take shape. Although we've still not shown anything of the exterior- perhaps a photo charter should be arranged for tomorrow?
Old meets...old? Decades newer purpose-built rollingstock being replaced by older, less suitable trains is not something that occurs too often
-
That looks so bloody brilliant!

I´m not a huge fan of the Juniper (the front looks just "wrong" to me), but the model itself in TS ist quite good from what I´ve seen so far.

Ob er den Schnee gut an die Seiten wirft und nicht zuviel hoch schiebt, bezweifle ich. Hoffe das es getestet wurde

No, it was not built to clear snow, only for dramatic effect.

@holzroller Do you have any addition explanation why the Class 460 was discarded 2012 and merged into the 358/5?
-
-
@Schwarzwaldbahner political vandalism. Capacity was needed on the Brighton line and rather than spend the money to increase it, and it would have been very expensive and unpopular in some areas, the Gatwick Express franchise, which was very successful, was abandoned. The 460's were too specialised for the extra Brighton trains that took the airport trains place, so they were converted.
-
@holzroller So it was cheaper to repurpose the specialized Gatwick trains and let the older 442´s (Weren't´t they phased out at the time with other operators?) take over the job till the Class 387 arrived in 2014 instead of buying some new trains (or even carriages only) to lengthen the Brighton trains. What an odd decision.
-
@Schwarzwaldbahner of course it was an odd decision, it was made by politicians who don't look past the next election and civil servants who never take responsibility for such decisions. The 442's were off lease at the time and still had a long life. They are great for the express runs they are designed for, far better than the new trains as they use the same body as the Mk3 coaches, but they were never designed for rapid loading unloading of passengers with a lot of luggage.

It´s comming along quite nicely.
