Cambridge Lines & ECML updated to V5.5
https://sites.google.com/site/cambridgelinesrailworks/home
Only 3 months later than planned - but much bigger - these are some of the highlights but there is much more - see the 'Project Updates page for details
- several new scenarios
- signalboxes given an LNER colour scheme - with a new model to replace the venerable Chaddock 25 lever box
- track at Grantham updated to relect the 50s and 60s layout with a curious scissor triangle instead of small turntables
- track at Peterborough to model the large yards North of the station and the New England loco shed (35A amd then 34E)
- a few extra bits in the 'era-specific' modes with a 1930s one added to the 50s, 60s and 70s.

When you look and see that they haven't got something as basic as the train numbers correct you wonder what will come, and then you look at the rain strip over the drivers side window and wonder. Then you notice a few other things. I hope TSW2 will be a big improvement, TSW did not impress, but I think as long as it has to be compatible with the Consoles, particularly the X-box it will always be neutered.

For me it depends on my mood. When tired a simple A to B is fine. But even then a few events like being held for another train to pass are welcome distractions. I am not a fan of shunting only scenarios, but don't mind a little adding and dropping off, or light engine movements. Trip working with a reasonable run between shunts is fine. Usually around an hour duration is fine, occasionally longer, but the odd short scenario is welcome too for when time for TS is tight. I like both freight and passenger.

So far the only third party route I have driven this unit on was Zurich-Olten once and I didn't experience any crash caused by the doors. Edit I use 64 bit and I was not using quick drive.

.....and silence is for grumpy old men
It depends how well the sound is implemented, and the volume they are being played at. Poorly implemented sounds are very irritating, I have a few, and I have some very well implemented sounds. The BR class 24 from Sutton Locomotive works is one of the best soundings loco's I have heard, there are others, but the problem is that you can have both good and bad from the same manufacturer. I have some excellent sounding loco's from both Roco and Piko, but I also have some poor ones. Both manufacturers seem to be improving their sounds however, which is a good thing. Many of the locos need the volume of their sound adjusted, but this is probably a personal thing, and easily done. -
