MrSumner You are welcome, yes sometimes we all have that problem Regardless of : D language, glad it is off some help. Version 2 and patch 2:01 are now uploaded here and waiting for approval. Currently only with English instructions, Although the German instructions from the previous version Should Still Be helpful. With the next version hopefully close to release I want to wait until then before arranging another translation, unless somebody wants to do Their Own.

Edit: now available for download http://rail-sim.de/forum/wsif/…nterface-V2-Patch-to-2-1/

It really depends whether this is a German language forum first and foremost, or a German Train Sim forum first and foremost. Not so long ago I posted a thank you in German to a poster on UKTS, the post was deleted with no explanation much to my disgust. But then I am ptretty disgusted with the moderation there now anyway. Personally I find this forum much more welcoming to international visitors than UKTS and I hope it will remain so. Ultimately I can read far more German than I can speak or write, and I am quite good at interpreting Google translate gobbledegook. Without such a welcome I could contribute little to this forum, and I hope that I do at least occasionally contribute something worthwhile.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the points, at different times today the price was £26.95 and then back up to £31.95, now as you see it above. JT posted on UKTS that they have never known such interest in one of their products, and normally they have a lot. If you are a cynic you could maybe wonder if publicity was the whole point of it all, but that isn't something that JT are known for. More likely internal issues I think, or possibly indecision, again not something they are known for. Anybody for a Friday release?

@Matze no they just have to pay for the product itself which no doubt includes a cost for development, it doesn't come free. I have no doubt that the price takes into account how many sales they exopect to make, and I suspect that they feel a lower price needing higher sales isn't viable, so probably losing a few sales is a price they have to pay. Something else that most forget is that they also have to pay to provide the different payment services, Visa I know is expensive, Paypal also like their cut as well, and then there is the now ludicrously complicated EU tax system to administrate as well, and JT have a very international customer base. Software can only do so much. Like I said we have heard it all before, either pay, wait for a sale, or wait a few years and hope the price drops or do without. We have most people in two sides now with very few in the middle, a bit like politics or many religions the two biggest causes of war on the planet. Think I have said all I need to now and ultimately this discussion will change nothing except probably fray a few tempers, and maybe amuse a few with a certain frame of mind, the £'s and $ will still come rolling in. At least I hope so, because JT need to survive or we will lose a valuable developer/publisher, we have nearly lost them once already.

Sorry but I doubt that the costs are that marginal, it seems that everybody assumes the if it's online it costs little ar nothing. Jt have atleast 3 people in Support as well as their production team. I would estimate their wage bill alone to be well over £100,000, maybe even double that. Website and shop software has to be updated regularly, and because it is commercial software that comes at a high cost. True it has to be there whether RJ is there or not, but if not they would still need to generate the revenue elsewhere, they have to maintain a steady cash flow like every other business. Of course they could take the easy way and stay with simple DTG syle products which would probably cut their support costs substantially, instead they are prepared to publish products that frequently require high support, quite often in a polite form of RTFM. VR provide support for their own products and some limited 3rd party products, you will note that they have never produced a route, I doubt that they could sustain the production or support costs, JT on the other hand support a multitude of third party authors, with a few fdifferent native languages. The two don't compare. Vr is also a red herring Maik has already said on UKTS that if VR were to produce a similar package it would cost at least 50 euros and even then might not be viable for them.

Not quite true. Support has a cost, and with a product like this it will be a high one, mostly because the majority don't read the manual, or at best skim through it. Then there is the cost of running a site, bandwidth costs money, maintaining individual accounts to allow purchases to be downloaded years later also costs money, and site security to protect peoples details also costs money. You also can't sell as many as you want, only what people are prepared to buy. But we have had this topic many times before, with VR and others, no doubt we will again, and no doubt it is part of the reason that many developers stay away from the forums.

As I noted in the other thread, most buyers from JT will be using £'s or $, also most of them never go near any of the TS forums including this one. Boycotting will have little effect. When I read threads like this and similar on UKTS I am amazed that anybody wants to develop for this sim. We live in a world where everybody wants to be well paid for their own work but expect others to work for little or nothing. Personally I am in an industry that is dying on it's feet, I now work a 4 day week and have taken a 20% pay cut for the forseeable future, but despite this I don't expect people to work for peanuts as we say. If you don't want to pay the price then don't, but don't complain when nobody wants to put heart and soul into a future complex add-on because they won't get a reasonable return for their efforts. Personally despite my problems and the coming of Christmas I will invest in this, and even get a little discount from my JT points.

Ultimately I suspect that most purchasers will be using the pound or the dollar, it has been said here before that most buyers of German add-ons are not German and I suspect it may be the same for Austrian add-ons as well. Under different circumstances I maught have suggested a different publisher, although I am not certain that they would be ready for such a challenge, but I know that their beta testers are thorough. No matter, utlimately it is what it is, the developers have already said they will not get rich and I suspect that if you calculate the hours worked, even with big sales the hourly rate would be much lower than anybody on this or any other forum would accept for their own employment. As sims get more complex to develop for it can only get worse.

Unfortunately, JT don't read here, and I doubt if the authors have any control of the price. The price is high, even if you pay in pounds, but then how many here happily pay DTG time after time for far lower quality produts. If you had to pay DTG prices just for each of the six trainsets then this price quickly becomes a bargain even without the advanced features, and maybe the re-skins go to the marketplace at even more cost.

Another sad loss, maybe he will find some celestial drums to hammer. Remember seeing this line up in 1979, my first proper concert.

To All As the board has been quiet for a while I thought I would post what I have been doing recently. In the section of the program where you assign the Notch / Range values, I have added two more columns: - "RE-AssignedTo" gives the option to change what each of the Raildriver levers do so That You Could, using the DB BR189 AS An example, assign the Loco Brake to the AFB and assign the Reverser to the Loco Brake. "Direction" gives the option to reverse the direction of the Raildriver lever. When assigning Notch values where you have the option to add to 'N' in front of a notch to indicate where neutral is, you THEREFORE willhave the option to add the letter 'C' in front of a Notch value whichwill be sent did Continually value (as though you are holding the equivalent keyboard key down) while the lever is in fact notch position. This is usefull for things like the Tap Changer on the VR BR111 Which require the lever be held in the run up position for the notches to notch up. To fix the problem of the BR155 and the Union Pacific Gas Turbine Which now use a User Virtual Reverser and THEREFORE will not work in my program, I have added two new text files called FolderNames.txt and ControlNmaes.txt. These are used to supply the names of the folders to extract from the AP files and to supply the names of the controls used by TS, so That should another new control be found as in the User Virtual Reverser, all you will need to do is add it to ControlNames.txt and the program will then work with the new control. I am amalgamating the RailWorks editor Into the TS2015 Raildriver interface so there is only one program did does it all now. I am now looking at adding a database to hold the name of each loco and the keymap it uses so did the program will automatically load the relevant keymap. I am also experimenting with another addon program thatwill allow you to create a custom dashboard That Could be Displayed on a second monitor to display gauges: color: such as speedometer, brake pressure, ammeter, rpm etc and a panel for warning lights: such as Doors Open, SIFA and aws Basically anything That is Displayed in the cab, so the current speed limit, speed limit next and next speed limit distance. I have THUS had some success in using a tablet, ipad or a laptop as a second monitor (For Those Who Do not Have another monitor) over WiFi using a free program called SpaceDesk, but I have only used it to display a couple of gauges as far as Need to do more testing to see how it copes under load. Another option I may look into When all this is done is to create another database thatwill hold the distance between each station on a route (willhave to be worked out manually) so You Could enter your Start And End locations and as you leave / pass each station the display will show and count down the distance to the next station. This Would Be For Those Who do not like having the F4 Infopanel open and will be using a second monitor. So I have plenty to do, can not give a time When this will be ready but I am hoping to get the majority of it done in time for a release by Christmas. Chris.

Interim patch released 2:01 To save having to wait for the next version I have released on interim patch V2.01 That Now Allows the current version 2.0 of my program to use the Virtual User Reverser on th DB Br155 and the Union Pacific gas turbine , It can be found inside the TS2015 Raildriver Interface folder here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cbw…ALzXgIqxADDO1ST-rBqa?dl=0 and is called "TS2015 Raildriver Interface Patch V2.01.zip". Read the readme.txt file for instruction on how to apply the patch. Chris.
