From my time at NSB - we had to take all our El-14's apart to get rid of asbestos. Job was done with people with masks and all that. The El-14 is comparable to the Swiss Ae 6/6, just that we destroyed a good loco by putting the bogies closer together, and that's another story. Me, I might get sick (in theory) from asbestos NSB and from early cruise ships. Ain't going to dwell on that subject, but this thread is interesting to read. Hope I not have to shut down my Fleischmann 245 N scale because of all this.. ![]()

Genau, I think mine is now at least three years old (see the specs in my profile). I have upgraded the graphics card, power supply and all fans (to Noctua) since the original purchase. As well as a M2 disk now dedicated to TS. Oh, and I still get the Access Violation now and then, using 64bit only...

I purchased v1.1 today and gave the top rating. Been around Elbe up north much in my youth, later sailing on it to/from Hamburg, so it is a pleasure to drive along it in an area I have never seen before. The vegetation is quite good, and there's lot of it. This is also a good opportunity to get to know Czech rolling stock. The included rolling stock is not soo good, but I knew that before purchasing. A little Bastling and I'm OK.

Not all locos or trains saves "state of cab". Best way to get around this is to save at a station (even if you should not stop there). Then, especially if in a career scenario when clock is ticking, you have to "in a state of cab panic" restart your loco, AFB, PZB and all that, then drive off ASAP...

From driving (only) electric locos as an electrician, approx two times a week to test everything for a decade on a short testing track, knowing the feel and dynamics you don't get in a simulator, I can only vote for farting in the driver's seat, which is common for both the simulation and real-life. Next time I drive vR's excellent BR218, I may have a glass of diesel on my desk to improve on realism beside my beer, just for sniffing. Do you see a catastrophe coming?

A shot from Hamburg Eidelstedt 1990's, while we were visiting the DB ICE Werk. The time when we still had great sleeping cars from Oslo, which we left full of empty beer bottles. Blame that on us and not the excellent car! We slept over in Wilhelmsburg, getting goosebumps about the watermarks from the Sturmflut long way back.

Weird you suddenly started talking about the BR232, as I just got the same kick. After driving the vR BR218 until the loco had to go to service (cleaning windows, coffee stains in cab, replacing instrument lightbulbs vibrated to death, new fat on the buffers, basic checks in engine room plus inspection from below and so on... I felt like trying something heavier. It seems the BR218 are good at climbing the hills because of the converter regulating on momentum (if I got this correct). Pulling over the mountain with the BR232 was certainly different, and I could never get up to 90 km/h going uphills. Hence the nickname Taigatrommel? Never mind, the BR132/252 is a pleasure to drive with a sneering engine reminding me of the BR225 soundwise.

I am going to get IKB when the new versioncomes out. I am very sure i will enjoy it too.
But, for someone who has a bit of “geographic ocd” i connect the routes in the virtual TS world to “going there in the real world”, and in that respect i would prefer any route to exist in the real world.
Reality mode, or Modellbahn mode, I welcome both. TS is all that in one package.

As I like to try to explain things so people can understand, I was about to talk about cars. This link explains diesel hydraulic well: https://www.quora.com/How-does…aulic-locomotive-function
I have still not dug properly into the torque converter (viscosity coupling?), but guess it is like a clutch where you are allowed to slip it all the time, whithout the clutch burning up in short time :-p

Me, I installed over the last (probably 64bit) version, all OK. And on the contrary I said a couple of pages back there is not much loss on fps or general feel of speed, just been to Luneburg and back. Could have to do with driving off just after upgrading, and not restarting TS or the PC, and all that. Now I also hear grasshoppers eating away at the greenery, which for shure will have an impact on frame rates.

I took the chance on this one: scenariopackkoblitzerbergland_version2 .zip. Hard to find!! Link: https://www.railsimulator.net/…paket-ohne-szenarien-v-1/

I did just discover now 120 is 10, and 140 is stufe 14 (137). All good, and Fahrplan OK.

Finally breathing fully. No catenary, just Friesische kuer, car trains, diesel (cough).

Ulf, maybe optisch, but if you put in approx +20, maybe more realistic. And better optisch at the same time. A win-win scenario. Who can cook anything at 50 degrees? Not even a diesel would respond to that. (Now running into my bunker, prepped for doomsday)
