I’m not into Danish routes (my heart has always been into the German/Austrian rail net, even from a young age, and i am three times a granddad now). So this route is the closest thing i will ever get to a Heimatroute.

I, ofcourse being me, completely missed that this is an alpha version, and didn’t understand why Ghosttrain wouldn’t allow any work on it. But alphaversion is the keyword here. He does not consider it finished himself, and want (or wanted) to have a go at finishing it himself. That i completely understand. I would feel the same way. And for an alpha version i think it is much more advanced than other alphas i’ve seen. Even if it never progresses further (which i hope it does) i am happy that i have this addition to my TS network. I am already at work on building Real Drives for it. That’s more than can be said for the Riesa Leipzig extension. Too many Zwangsen for me to enjoy it. And who knows if that’ll ever be fixed by DTG. We all have different emphasis for our enjoyment of the route. My two fears was that it would be devoid of landscape, and that the Kuju signals weren’t upto the high demands of a Real Drive. Well, signals are certainly doing their job better than i expected. Yes there was landscape. Hand build or not, it is enough for me to enjoy the route. Others mileage may wary ofcourse.

I also now know why i have never started a route project myself. I’ve been tempted, but i also know how the thing we love, bring on extremely harsh critisisms. I mean, even though RSSLO have become very good lately, there is always unfair (as well as fair) critisism, even by the mention of the name.

But i would also say that here we have forum full of wonderfully creative people. And the creativity is what makes TS fun for them. (I am one of them). So they’ll enthusiastically jump on any chance to put their own stamp on anything that’s released. And i LOVE that about this community. And ofcourse those people (like dear TrainFW) are now dissapointed, because all they want to do is the same as Ghosttrain . To be creative, and to GIVE to our community. This is why i find this situation doubly sad.

This is ofcourse a german forum, based on german culture. And as almost everyone here knows i LOVE germany. But the straighforwardness in how germans speak your mind, is VERY VERY different to denmark. That’s not anyones fault, but i had to learn to navigate in that when i first came here. I remember after my first post, there was an outcry, because i posted in english. Which i did (still do) out of respect for your fine language, because i understand it well, but write it like Sheiße. And i had observed how there is also a dislike for any german that’s not written entirely correct as well. I think that this kind of perfectionism is inherent in most germans. For good and for bad too. But it’s certainly part of the culture clash i see unfold before my eyes here.

But anyway…..that straightforwardness is so different to the danish way of suggesting changes, giving criticism, that it’s like we live on two different planets LOL. I can see Ghosttrain have been here longer than me, but is maybe not as (obsessively) regurlar a user than me. I can fully understand how he feels hit by a vocal minority, that has not accepted his work in the grace it was meant. A work for free, to be enjoyed by those who find something to enjoy in it. Not as something that harsh words is uttered about. How many daily users are we daily here at rail-sim.de? Several hundred? It is probably the largest TS community in the world. That means that there will always be a vocal minority that will use harsher than necesary words, when they could have chosen to say things only once, or just not say anything.

As we say in Denmark. “If you have nothing good to say, don’t say anything”.

So maybe just spread a little love, just like these two sweet kissing ICs ;)

Finished the first Real Drive from HH hbf to Itzehoe. As a said earlier when doing real drives for Köln Düsseldorf, i am actually pretty impressed by the scripts behind the kuju h/v signals. It easily handles very complex situations.

There certainly is distant terrain that has hills. One look in the editor confirms this.

This route is not flat. It has terrain. And the terrain seems to fit my memory of the places. Schleswig, The hills south of Kiel etc….

Perhaps the ones that talk about lack of terrain should check for themselves. It only takes one look in the editor.

I think Ghosttrain was planning to build it without. I asked him if it would have terrain, and he said no. But he also quickly became aware from the responses to that, that terrain was necesary, and therefor implemented it.

Just made a very basic quick drive from HH hbf to Itzehoe. Before that i spend a couple of hours putting in necesary destination points, so the dispatcher code wont throw a hissy fit on me. Signals seem to be doing their job well. Correct speeds, when going through switches etc…

I am looking forward to the vegetation update though.

Ghosttrain Thanks for this present to all of us German TS lovers!!!

For me, it’s a part of Germany that i associate with being on my way south, so it’s a treat to have. I recognise all the places where it crosses the A7. Great fun to drive past POETZCH Harrislee. I have shopped there at least a hundred times. Fun touch with the Fleggaard advert board. I see you even put the restaurant under the Rendsburg bridge in there. Nice detail for us who have eaten there. I get all warm and fuzzy :)

Alone the fact that you have included so much of the Hamburg network, including Hamburg Veddel is great.

Don’t be offended that our great community have members who will do some work on it too (vegetation upgrades etc). They wouldn’t do that if they didn’t find it worth their time.

I will do Real Drives for this eventually.

Ghosttrain I am wondering why you point to v5 of the Deutche Formsignale when it’s currently at v9.8? I am thinking that if people are installing v5, they might in effect be downgrading the signals.

TrainFW Ganz am Anfang muss man schon die TAB Taste drücken damit das Signal auf Grün geht.

Old Kuju signals bug. I’ve come across it before. Once you get permission to pass that first signal, it shouldn’t happen again. My suspicion is twofold.

1-You sometimes have to kickstart the kuju signalscript.

2-If the player train starts right on the edge of signal coverage, the script can’t sense the train, and tab is the only thing that can tell the script that you are here. By “edge” i mean if the signals behind you have no links, because the route builder thinks them unnecesary.

On the subject of quick drives.

Most people think you can leave decisions on routing to the dispatcher code. But the dispatcher code is like a very early GPS. It really has ZERO way of knowing if a track is a shunting track or a Hauptgleis or a Gegengleis. So if you want to avoid wrong routing you have to set a destination point after EVERY switch that you want a train to pass. Both Ki trains and the player train. And ofcourse route the trains via those points. If you do not do that, the routing will eventually be wrong.

On the subjects of Real Drives. I will get around to it eventually i think. But this is the time of year where musicians/music-teachers are very very busy. And i will only make them if the route was created with the correct landscape. I don’t enjoy routes that are created without, and i am not going to put a lot of hours into something i will never drive.

I can live with kuju signals. Surprisingly they (mostly) do the job good enough for Real Drives to function.

I can live with kuju signalling. It’s simple and crude, but still largely make sure trains do not crash into eachother.

I sure don’t hope the route is all flat?

All the signalling on my RSSLO routes have become so slow that they are impossible to drive. It only happens on RSSLO routes. Sometimes a distant signal switches to yellow meters before i pass it. Sometimes after i pass it, causing me to run into red signals.

Look from 4:50 of this video. The distant switches seconds before i reach it.

It’s happening on all RSSLO routes (except Regensburg Ingolstadt).

I was thinking that either the signal script has become broken, or it’s some copy protecting scheme kicking in, since i had to move my TS installation in from a backup.

So i might need to install it all from new, without wanting to loose all my Real Drive scenarios. And RSSLO installers sometimes zap everything in the scenerio folder.

BUT is anyone else experiencing this sluggish signalling on RSSLO routes?

    Any suggestions for solving this?

    You mean like this ?
