I’m not into Danish routes (my heart has always been into the German/Austrian rail net, even from a young age, and i am three times a granddad now). So this route is the closest thing i will ever get to a Heimatroute.
I, ofcourse being me, completely missed that this is an alpha version, and didn’t understand why Ghosttrain wouldn’t allow any work on it. But alphaversion is the keyword here. He does not consider it finished himself, and want (or wanted) to have a go at finishing it himself. That i completely understand. I would feel the same way. And for an alpha version i think it is much more advanced than other alphas i’ve seen. Even if it never progresses further (which i hope it does) i am happy that i have this addition to my TS network. I am already at work on building Real Drives for it. That’s more than can be said for the Riesa Leipzig extension. Too many Zwangsen for me to enjoy it. And who knows if that’ll ever be fixed by DTG. We all have different emphasis for our enjoyment of the route. My two fears was that it would be devoid of landscape, and that the Kuju signals weren’t upto the high demands of a Real Drive. Well, signals are certainly doing their job better than i expected. Yes there was landscape. Hand build or not, it is enough for me to enjoy the route. Others mileage may wary ofcourse.
I also now know why i have never started a route project myself. I’ve been tempted, but i also know how the thing we love, bring on extremely harsh critisisms. I mean, even though RSSLO have become very good lately, there is always unfair (as well as fair) critisism, even by the mention of the name.
But i would also say that here we have forum full of wonderfully creative people. And the creativity is what makes TS fun for them. (I am one of them). So they’ll enthusiastically jump on any chance to put their own stamp on anything that’s released. And i LOVE that about this community. And ofcourse those people (like dear TrainFW) are now dissapointed, because all they want to do is the same as Ghosttrain . To be creative, and to GIVE to our community. This is why i find this situation doubly sad.
This is ofcourse a german forum, based on german culture. And as almost everyone here knows i LOVE germany. But the straighforwardness in how germans speak your mind, is VERY VERY different to denmark. That’s not anyones fault, but i had to learn to navigate in that when i first came here. I remember after my first post, there was an outcry, because i posted in english. Which i did (still do) out of respect for your fine language, because i understand it well, but write it like Sheiße. And i had observed how there is also a dislike for any german that’s not written entirely correct as well. I think that this kind of perfectionism is inherent in most germans. For good and for bad too. But it’s certainly part of the culture clash i see unfold before my eyes here.
But anyway…..that straightforwardness is so different to the danish way of suggesting changes, giving criticism, that it’s like we live on two different planets LOL. I can see Ghosttrain have been here longer than me, but is maybe not as (obsessively) regurlar a user than me. I can fully understand how he feels hit by a vocal minority, that has not accepted his work in the grace it was meant. A work for free, to be enjoyed by those who find something to enjoy in it. Not as something that harsh words is uttered about. How many daily users are we daily here at rail-sim.de? Several hundred? It is probably the largest TS community in the world. That means that there will always be a vocal minority that will use harsher than necesary words, when they could have chosen to say things only once, or just not say anything.
As we say in Denmark. “If you have nothing good to say, don’t say anything”.
So maybe just spread a little love, just like these two sweet kissing ICs ![]()
