An hour ago i was walking past the station in Quedlingburg. And lo and behold, by chance this wonderful machine was at the platform.
-
I still like the Dreländereck. Though i have the steam version, so no pzb magnets on the swizz part.
Has anyone ever made an upgrade?
-
Yeah but, with all due respect for GBE, their version is just ancient. Just like the original Schwarzwald route.
I saw that GBE did in fact just put put version 1,2 (i think). I wonder if there were any significant improvements?

Winpit Agree 100%. But i think the lesson has now also been learned at RSSLO.
And, just to blow my own whistle, complaining in the appropriate channels do make a difference.

No you are remembering correctly. Thomson became Rivet Games. I am very surprised both at the brands resurection, and that they are developing for TSC after Rivet Games stating only one month ago here on the forum, that they have abandoned TSC.
Perhaps it is a “fraction” of Rivet Games, having bought the name.

jhz37 That’s probably why i never had any big problems with their CP. I’ve always just used windows defender. Haven’t got Rudolphsbahn yet, but for me Regensburg-Ingolstadt is their best route scenery-wise.
-
Well i think it is fair to say that RSSLO have shot themselves in the foot.
I also think they are aware that shrink-flation has it’s limits.
And now for a (perhaps) unpopular opinnion; I would rather have paid a little more and they had maintained the quality, instead of it taking a dive.
As it is, they will not be getting my money before KÜ and pzb issues are fixed.

The question really is; can it be costimised to work with other locos as well.
We all know the Fahrpult products, but for the vast majority of users, they have a much too hefty pricetag.
I am using two Logitech Saitek Throttles, via Raildriver and Joystick interface, and once i’ve put them in a board so they lie flat, it will be close enough to reality for me.
-
SÜWEX I do not disagree on the copyprotection issues. Nor did i say so.
What i said is; if you have quality issues with a product, it can actually make a difference to voice those at the appropriate places, and not just here.
-
Johmathema Thanks for asking RSSLO. No matter how others think my suggestion was a bit laughable, i actually think it made a difference!!!
jhz37 See above. I know you have become disenchanted with RSSLO (because of their Kopierschutz methods if i remember correctly). But in my experience nothing comes from nothing. And if we want change, it is not going to come from just writing in a thread here on this (fantastic) forum.
@everyone: Remember when DTG brought out Koblenz Frankfurt, with some of the most random signalling ever? I said MAKE YOUR DISSATISFACTION KNOWN. I got SO many “it wont make a difference” comments. But you know what. They were wrong. I organised a wave of user protests at their forum. And what happened? They brought out an update AND changed to Schuster signals. You can thank me for that, because it was MY push, and those that actually used a couple of minutes of their time to support my push, that brought home to DTG that they had to do better.
So making your voice heard MATTERS!!!

I think those that are concerned about curve-elevation should simply politely ask in the facebook thread where the announcement was made. Be pro-active.

It’s a pretty sad reading this thread. I haven’t bought the add-on yet, and ofcourse i am discouraged. I know that i’ve defended RSSLO in the past, but it seems the quality has been hit by “shrinkflation”. We all have our priorities, some wants very photorealistic routes, others lot of rolling stock etc etc…
I think the most important thing for me is the signalling, and train security infrastructure. There is nothing worse for me than when signals won’t clear, or if the signalling is slow. And i have no time for being zwangsgebremst when i shouldn’t. Once you have PZB down to perfection, it is very uncomfortable driving routes where it is not implemented correct.
If RSSLO does not address this, it will be the first newer RSSLO that i wont be buying.

Ok i had decided not to say anymore because it comes across as me being ungrateful for the work being done, which is not the case at all! It’s just a single practise i am disagreeing with. For good reason imo. So for the record; I am ofcourse going to install this, my kuju folder is a mess from other upgrades already, so i am just going to hope this one wont give floating bushes on Berlin Leipzig or something like that.
But Traktionssperre asked so i am going to answer after all: It’s more complicated than that. Many RWA upgrades to RSSLO routes overwrite assets in the Kuju folder. There are several upgrades to DTG routes that does the same. Then we can soon add H-S v4 to the list. And if they all overwrite some of the same assets with their own different “favorite asset of the week”, then you can in fact not have any routes upgraded the way the upgrader intended it to be, because these assets have now been substituted by someone else. And no backup can help the fact that one routeupgrade compromises another.
Now if all upgraders did was to add assets to the folder instead of overwriting assets, i would be absolutely fine with it.
hans-peter yes, a file verification would probably destroy all these upgrades as well.
And now i am going to say no more, because i fear it’s being taken the wrong way.
-
tom87 Sfm Torino to name one. Another would be the upgrade to Köln Düsseldorf.
But that’s besides the point. The point is that when i install this one it will change stuff. And then when i install an upgrade from the RWA forum, who also mess with the kuju assets, it will probably change stuff on HSv4 as well (which BR-218 can’t be pleased with either, after all he has spend a lot of time making it look wonderful) . No-one can any longer rely on what is really being used, because everyones Kuju folders is a mashup of what routeupgraders have changed in them.
And what happens if someone makes a stupid mistake, like exchanging all bushes with giant oaktrees or something like that? It will be impossible to trace the error, and even more impossible to troubleshoot it, or for the community to help out truobleshooting it, since (again) what is in the kuju folder has been modified over and over again, but totally randomly.
It’s not different than if everyone changed things in the Schienenbus folders, or Schuster or CmdCornflakes folders. How are routebuilders/upgraders to know then what it will really look like at our end?
Anyway; i have said what i need to say about this issue and will debate it no further.

If i see falsely “always on” magnets on RSSLO route (there always seem to be a couple of them) i simply remove them in the route editor. I would rather have a couple of missing magnets, than being wrongly zwangsgebremst.
-
Traktionssperre How is that supposed to help? Yes you will have a backup, but if you copy them back in, you will then destroy the appearence of the upgraded routes. Or even worse. So a backup is both good and at the same time completely useless.
I remember installing an upgrade, which caused bushes on all other routes that used kuju to float 1 meter above ground. That was also a kuju folder vegetation overwrite. I don’t want that to happen again.
No offence, to the wonderful work does on upgrades. I LOVE what you do. And i look forward to H-S v4 as much as anyone. But messing with assets that other routes depend on is just a mess. This is exactly why i don’t modify stock ai preload .bins, in route folders, but deliver my Real Drives with my own preloads. I don’t want to modify what others have in their payware/freeware folders. It get’s messy, and no-one knows why things are suddenly different elsewhere in TSC.
-
DennyW Are you sure about that? I’ve seen other routeupgrades that made changes in the kuju vegetation, and it affected quite a few routes.
-
DaTeddyx3 Don’t worry. They really are talking about multicoresupport.
