I’ve been thinking about some of the issues you bring up. Now i am just going to suggest something. You are very welcome to shoot it down right away, i am just thinking out loud here…
I think if we did set up a kind of system where only assets from easily available sources were used. And not too many of them. A kind of pool of payware plus a bit of freeware (perhaps even freeware that the freeware-developers would allow distribution off) that were to be used in future route projects. Plus ofcourse costum made assets made for a route.
If route builders could tone down on ultra realism, and keep the asset situation simple, preferably using only a list of payware available on steam, then more would be willing to pay.
I know i would!!! Also for prices higher than what is the usual route price.
The thing about keeping the asset situation simple is necesary because if i bought a route i would not be accepting milkbottles and missing textures from obscure (or closed down) webpages. Also remember that it if you take money for a route, you will have to offer support, and in that regard making the asset situation simple, will simplify support and have less people demand a refund.
What would i be willing to pay…good question. 50€ would be my max i think.
Again, just thinking out loud. Doesn’t have to be ultra-realistic. Simple asset situation. You have my money.
