Hi!
I am working on some scenarios for my Swiss Fantasyland route and found a really weird problem:
When I try to couple freightcars (Simtrain) onto my RE4/4 (Simtrain) the whole train 'shakes' and some cars derail! Sometimes it just shakes and stays on track...
This happens when I press the coupling in the monitor (bottom) screen. It has nothing to do with 'bump' speed.
I am really at a loss here! I couldn't find anything on the forum.. maybe I didn't look good enough but..
Has anybody seen this problem? Is it fixable?
Paul
Hi!
Another Testdrive video. This time doing 2 complete rounds counter clockwise. It's looking pretty good now. Release is getting closer
I still need testers. Do you own Simtrain's SBB route 1 and are you interested? Let me know!
See video <HERE>
Cheers!

Hi!
My route is almost ready now. I am working on some scenario's to include in the release of the route. These will only use standard SBB route 1 assets. I still have some signalling issues to resolve but the rest is good enough for a first release (I think..).
I would like to do a beta release first and need some testers/scenariobuilders for that. Interested? Please let me know!! Please note that you need to have SBB route 1 installed for this route to work.
Haha! Whenever you guys are in NL, let me know!
Dear Prelli and Nobsi,
It works !!!
I would have NEVER found this myself!
Thank you very very much for your help. Becoming a member of this forum was a good idea. I have been helped on all my questions so fast!
Keep up the good work. Any plans on doing a Rail-sim.de members day? I would love to buy you guys a beer!

Hello,
After a lot of failed attempts I now finally have a thumbnail created with RW_tools and there are now 2 files in my preload folder.
.bin
Fantasyland.tgpcdx
The picture however does not show in TS.
Some questions:
1. is 256x128 pixels .dds dxt1(alpha) 6 mipmaps correct?
2. where do I need to put my preload folder?
3. is the file called .bin correct? there is nothing before the '.' ?
My route is under a folder in routes (D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Content\Routes\818293d9-fd02-4d8f-b63c-10496fea949d) and my preload folder is a subfolder here.
My .bin file points to the right location and name of the thumbnail pic.
I first thought that my preload folder needed to be under assets but that didn't work.
I have the feeling that I am almost there... Can anybody help me?
Thanx!
Paul
UPDATE!!!
I found out that there are 2 ways to build the thumbnail. 1 in the dropdownmenu (I used that one and it didn't work) and one under the routelist.. I noticed that one just now... If I use that it does give me the options and menu's as in the manual...
Now it says everything is OK and my files are in my Preloadfolder, which they are But.... that's it.. no thumbnail in the program still.
Anyone seen that problem and knows what causes it??
Hi,
I have tried to get the route thumbnail implemented using RW_tools 4.75 and following the RW_Tools manual.
I resized my .dds file to 256x128 pixels and saved as DXT1(Alpha) with 6 mipmaps (like the manual says) but in the program it says to have a 1024x512 px with 8 mipmaps prepared? And it needs to be named loading_[routename].dds ????
Which option is right?
1st - I get different options/menuitems as in the manual
2nd - I do not get the option to choose Route location and era
2nd - I get numerous errors like :
Error #53 File not found, Module frmDelRoute, Procedure PutDetail
Error #52 Bad filename or number
And then nothing has happened.., only my .dds file is deleted out of my RW_tools Tempfiles folder...
I am totally in the woods on this one.. Anyone knows how to do this?
Best regards,
Paul
I repainted Simtrain's Re 4/4 II in green.
Also changed the soundlevels (which were too loud) and removed some 'glittering' around the windows in cabview. I think it looks SUPER
Click <HERE> for more pics!
Yeah, I noticed that too.. It did that all by itself . I will try to shift the brightness/contrast and see if that helps...
Some of you might have seen my posts of my initial problems on repainting Interregio and TEE versions of Simtrain's Re 4/4 II after succesfully making a green version.
I found out that the Cargo version was easier to work with because of the lack of SBB-CFF letters on the sides. There are still some issues but here is the WIP status:
And here are some pics locally:
Fixed it!!!
I found out that I could adjust the GeoPcDx file to point to another location for texture files. So now I linked the repainted textures to the Interregio lok and this is the result:
Just need to add a decal on front/back. I cannot share it, I think... because of copyrights... Or can I just share the changed files maybe?? Maybe I should ask Simtrain...
Now I am starting with the TEE version.
Couldn't let it go...
I suddenly realized that the Cargo version of Simtrain's RE4/4 has no SBB-CFF letters on the side!! So back to the drawing board on the Interregio Cargo Lok (even though Simtrain will release one in their 'Guterverkehr' add-on). I just like the challenge
Anyway. I made it this far:
But now I can't repaint the red lightcasings and handles!? It seems that the textures are taken from the default Cargolok. And obviously: If I repaint those files, my original red/blue Cargoloks will have orange parts... Normally I don't have this problem because all textures are in the same folder so I can repaint them all for one model.
Maybe I will find a way but for now... Beaten again by the Interregio RE4/4
Ok I will look at that! For now I have replaced all 'double' signals with a 5LiVR3T version and just put 2 or 3 links at nearly the same spot where needed.
That works! everything runs much smoother now!
But as you suggest, making my own 1T or 2T version is something I will definitely do next.
With this my route is almost ready to share. I am so sorry you won't have any use for it, not owning SBB route 1..
There is another thing I wonder about.. I will make a new post for that one because it's unrelated.
Cheers!
Paul
Hi StS,
SBB route 1 does have combisignals! But only on a pole, not suspended (on a portal). Well that is also not 100% true, there are some, but only for many tracks (einfahrsignale). Would it be possible to use for instance a 7T-VR combisignal for 1 or 2 Tracks (just placing link 1 on the straight track and 2-7 on the other track)? It's is obviously a dirty solution but still.... If it works...
Else I must defer to the groundbased combi's or fiddle around with the signalling keeping your suggestions in mind. I have little room for all this at this location so it will be a challenge!
I did see some cases of green under red as you mentioned, but only in the opposite track/direction. Don't want that anyway and now I know why that happened.
Thank you StS!!
Hi StS,
I have SBB route 1 and are using it's signals on my route.. So no possibilities to send you the route then..
Back to text, screenshots and pictures than
Your explanation above is clear to me. I normally follow these rules and it's all OK. But I have the general situation that is shown in this video (real situation)
I need a haupt- and vorsignal on the portal. There is no combisignal for that in the SBB route assets. So I need to put a separate 3Li1T and VR1T on the portal.
Doing that works fine when I put the vorsignal link in front of the hauptsignal links (see picture), I changed that after your remarks on this subject.
Now there is only a problem when the situation is as follows:
The left 2T signal shows normal speed (straight) or 40 km/h (when diverging). The right HS's show 60km/h (2 green). Where do I put the vorsignal link? It needs to show that the next hauptsignal is 60km/h (2green1yellow).
Position -A- seems faulty (between HS links).
Position -B- would be ok as long as the switch is not diverging...
If all fails I am probably forced to use combisignals on the gound. But maybe you know a way around this
Viele Grussen,
Paul
Thanx StS,
I tried some things and found that some of the vorsignal links were placed to far back. This normally doesn't happen but I have multiple locations where I use a separate haupt- and vorsignal on a portal, that's where the problems occur. I moved the links to option 2 in my original post and that seems to work.
Thank you for offering to help checking out my route! I will fix what I can and then send you my route so you can check it for obvious faults.
Thanx again for all your help
