You can put the following into a translator:

I write in english, because if i wrote in German you would be complaining about Rechtschreibung and Zeichensetzung.

You can reply in German, i understand it well. But to be blunt, if you dont want to read what i write, the way i write it, just don’t read it!!!!

I’ve been doing it for the 5 years i’ve been here, you should have sussed that out by now. English is not against the forum rules. And the day that changes, i’ll leave the forum, and have everything taken down that i’ve contributed in knowledge of complex quick drive scenarios.

So you can now chose to live with my presence, or loose what i’ve contributed to this forum. Your choice!!!

TomB In QD you need to trigger a “basic” weather first, because you can’t choose weather in the scenario flyout the same way as a timetabled scenario. So the workaround is to use the “load weather at startup” trigger for that. After that you just proceed as described in the manual, using pass triggers.

Already now i’m implementing it like this.

    One quick drive without triggers.

The same in a version with random triggers, triggering (sometimes) random weather changes. Just like my real drives, with random red signals, the weather is randomised, and to much more than 7 weather patterns. If you are only driving with the limited standard options, you are missing out on a huge improvement in the visual experience.

TomB For me the improvement is having many more “vibes” in qd. Instead of only 7. It simply puts me in a different mood, driving with haze, than with a clear sky.

Patti98 The one way of doing does not rule the other out. We can have both. And that is a great thing.

    It’s all about having choice.

I know this is a double post, but i thought many of you would like to know this. Untill now we’ve only really had 7 weather patterns in quick drives. But the AP weather pack 2 has expended the possibilities a lot. Though it might be by accident, since it is not mentioned in the manual:

Been doing some testing, with surprising results in regards to quick drive.

1: Dynamic weather DOES WORK to some extent in QD. Simply use the Ap swep trigger, and input the trigger name of dynamic weather pattern you want to use. Not all dynamic weathers have full functionality, but they are not looking broken either. The Shower patterns are beautiful. The thunder pattern works.

2: All standard AP weather patterns fully work with the AP swep trigger in the same manner as described above.

I just made this work (and remember, this is in a QD(!). Try it your self:

Put an AP swep trigger in the QD scenario. Write “AP Fair Cloud” in the speed limit box.

1km up the track, in the path of the player train, place an Pass trigger. Write “APFairCloud-Overcast20” in the speed limit box. (Notice that the latter is a dynamic weather pattern, and these are unsupported in quick drives)

Now within 20 minutes the beautiful sunny scenario will turn to a chill overcast.

What a huge improvement to quick driving this is. :)

Regarding not being able to modify QD Clear to AP High Cloud. I simply needed to recopy (and rename where necesary) the AP weather TOD into all routes. Now it works and i have High Cloud when i choose Clear in QD. No need for enabling AP weather in route and scenario editors.

Making a script the randomly replaces the rw_clear.bin file in Railsimulator Core weather with a couple of standard AP weathers should be very doable.

I have some very clear thoughts and ideas if anyone with a bit of scripting knowledge wants to make huge advances in the qd experience for the benefit of all of the community, please contact me.

OK this does work to some extent. VERY good find. I find that it mostly (but not always) randomises between the weathers that is allowed in qd. BUT sometimes it seems that it chooses a different cloud or overcast pattern. So far so good.

The PASS trigger also (sort of) works to some extent. Will have to dig into how much tonight when i get home from work.

Next thing i’ll investigate is if you can actually input a weather pattern in the speedlimit box on those two triggers.

Regarding scripting. There must be a line of code somewhere that defines AP Fair Cloud as the weather pattern when choosing cloudy in quick drive.

If anyone can find that line of code we are onto something. Because that line of code could (theoretically) be changed to point to something else. And (theoretically) to point to any non-dynamic weather pattern. And if that is possible, a script could be build for automating the change of that line of code.
