Hello!
After opening a topic on DutchSims I thought it would be appropriate to open a topic on this forum too. The "Laage Veenen Route" - Low Turf Route - runs from Enkbeek to Kraaijdam. From Kraaijdam the line continues to Bad Eichern in Germany. The total length of this stretch is about 55 km. The overal route length is almost 70 km, so there's plenty to see and do. In the first version a small section of the Eichernerwaldstrecke is included, a "Nebenbahn" from Bad Eichern to Bucholz (and further to Merschfeld in upcoming releases). Plans can change, so all this can be different in the release.

Some screenshots of the route as it is right now:
I'll keep this topic updated every now and then. It's all WIP, so give me some tips if you think of something.
Sie können auf Deutsch antworten. Ich kann es Lesen, aber bitte nicht zu kompliziert.

Grtz.

Poieni - In the summer of 2018, I made a large tour through Eastern Europe. With the Netherlands as starting point, we went to the northern coast of Poland to see some seasonal trains. We spend some time around Wolsztyn and Łeba. After that, we went to Katowice by night train. In the Silesian region we visited the famous tram in Bytom and the workshop of DB Cargo Polska. An article (in Dutch) can be found in RailHobby 408. A few days later we boarded EC 131 "Varsovia" to Budapest.
After a nice and cool night - It's been hot the past days - in Budapest, we took IR 363 "Ady Endre" to Cluj Napoca in Romania. In Cluj Napoca we rented a car to discover the surrounding area. One of the sights was the "Mocănița de pe Valea Vaserului", or Forest Railway of the Vasser valley. This is the last operating forest railway in Romania. After a friend of mine arranged a means of transport on this railway line, the visit was planned on the first full day in Romania. We went to Vişeu de Sus early in the morning to exchange the rubber-fitted VW Passat for a second-generation Ford Transit fitted with bogies for rails! During the beautiful tour through the woods, we went deep into the rugged Carpathian Mountains. More than 30 kilometers later we were in the hamlet of Făina. In earlier times a grain mill was found here, hence the name "Făina" - flour in Romanian. Another time I'll make an article about the Vaser Valley Railway, but for now I'll continue with the national network.
After our visit to the forest railway, we planned a day along the diesel section of railway line 300. This 647 kilometer long railway runs from the Hungarian border at Biharkeresztes to Bucharest. The section between the border with Hungary untill just before Cluj Napoca, the line is usually single-track and not equipped with overhead wires. There is plenty to see, the line runs through the valley of Crișul Repede, the spring of which is situated not far from the tracks near the village of Huedin. On this section of the line, the Dutch Wadlopers and German BR 614s are well seen guests, next to CFR's Desiro's and towed trains. In the summer, CFR runs several night trains across the country, including some along line 300. The Black Sea coast is a popular domestic destination in the summer, so a train connecting the western cities to the coast at night is no surprise.
Half a year before our visit, the station building shown in the photo was damaged by a storm. As can be seen, the roof had been repaired. IRN 1931 passes the station, pulled by CFR's 64 0950. It has just passed a BR628 of InterRegional Călători (IRC), which is not visible in this picture. With an hour and a half to go, the train still has to travel a little less than 90 kilometers. The more than 900 kilometers from the coast to Oradea takes about 17.5 hours and a ticket for this ride costs about 30 euros in the 2nd class. The trains, like many trains with the CFR, consist of mixed carriages pulled by a locomotive. Since the part from Cluj Napoca to Oradea is a diesel line, the locomotive has to be changed at Cluj Napoca.
