Well it is nothing like an Upright bass and most sound so bright that warming it up a bit (and trying to get a deeper/warmer sound) is good. But it is all personal preference which is why we have so many choices and why companies like Taylor offer so many wood choices...I have had people choose regular Indian Rosewood over Brazilian because that is the sound they like...some people like bright and some people like deep...and both are entitled to their opinion.
