The German V 200.1 is a further developement of the well-known V 200.0 diesel locomotive. From 1962, the V 200.0 was followed by the more powerful DB Class V 200.1, later Class 221.

The Greek OSE bought twenty V 200.1s which were delivered in 1989. All twenty of these V 200.1s have since been re-imported from Greece to Germany by the Prignitzer Eisenbahn (PEG), some of which have been restored to operational condition and sold on to other operators or kept by PEG who numbered them as Class 270.

The first overhauled locomotive at the Arriva Works in Neustrelitz is the former V 200 106 which has presented to general public at InnoTrans, the International Trade Fair for Transport Technology. The diesel locomotive was painted in the yellow colour scheme from EBW-Cargo (Eisenbahnbewachungs GmbH). Today it is in service as „92 80 1221 106-8 D-EGP“ for the railway company Eisenbahngesellschaft Potsdam.
