Technical Data

Engine Power: 1648 kW - 2240 hp
Max Speed: 82Mph (130Kph)

The steam locomotives of DRG class 01 originated from the idea of standardisation of parts needed for many steam locos

The first BR01 were delivered in 1926 by Borsig / AEG.

The mass production of Class 01s was somewhat delayed at first because in the 1920s there were neither enough routes with the necessary axle load of 20 tons nor sufficiently large turntables. Not until the beginning of the 1930s did the Class 01 become the predominant express train locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. By 1938 there were 231 Class 01 locomotives available for the prestigious express train duties.

From 1957 the Deutsche Bundesbahn rebuilt 50 vehicles. These engines were given welded, high-performance, steam boilers, which had already been used on the DRG Class 01.10. In addition a new mixer preheater system was installed in the smokebox.

Model of 01 180, engine preserved in the Bavarian RR Museum at Noerdlingen. The loco is at the moment in reconstruction at Meiningen until end of 2014.

If you use this loco in TrainSimulator, it will always be in Simple-Mode. In switching on the PZB90 system (page up / down) all integrated Expert functionality is activated (see the manual for more details).
