Schönefeld station, formerly the gateway to Berlin-Schönefeld Airport and the capital of the GDR for all long-distance trains coming from the south, now leads a quiet existence. In addition to the S-Bahn, three regional train lines still serve this station. The airport is now located elsewhere.

The RB24 line runs regularly from Schönefeld to Eberswalde. We are now travelling on a section of the route from Schönefeld to Berlin Ostkreuz station with a stop in Schöneweide.
